Product innovation

ASCEM supports the BTE brands with regard to product innovation. This involves both developing new products based on market demand and improving existing products.

Most of the products sold by the BTE companies have been around for quite some time. Although they meet all applicable standards, they are not always as sustainable as they might be. With their long lifespan, concrete products are sustainable in and of themselves, but there is still room for improvement. For example, some products can be produced with fewer materials or more value can be added to them.

During the development of new products, ASCEM forms part of a project team that works together to carefully determine the need, assess the feasibility and then start the product development process itself. Such a process may take several months or more, depending on the complexity of the product in question.

One example of the development of a new product based on market demand is a water-permeable roadside tile. During light rain, the water flows through the permeable concrete into the soil. During heavy precipitation, the tiles also help with water drainage
